Believe it or not you can lose weight without dieting if you adopt sensible eating habits and learn to control the portions you eat



. By making good choices and eating nutritional foods in the right portions you will lose weight.

One key to losing weight is that you cut out of your diet: processed food, sugar laden foods, white bread and pasta ( the whole wheat varieties are better), foods with a high percentage of calories from fat, and alcoholic beverages.

Obviously you will never cut all of these foods entirely out of your diet, but when you do partake in these foods you will have to do extra exercise to burn off those additional calories. If you replace some of these unhealthy choices with smarter ones that are more nutritious and lower in calories you will not have to search for those expensive diet plans.

Another mistake dieters make is that they associate dieting with hunger or are just concerned that if they cut back on the food they eat they will be very hungry. The amount of calories you eat doesn’t determine whether you are hungry or not but the type of food you eat does. In other words you can be more satisfied and lose weight by eating larger portions of foods that have far fewer calories but still make you feel full.

Certain foods make you feel fuller with less calories. Foods higher in water make you feel fuller . Water alone will not make you less hungry but foods high in water will help you be less hungry. Fruits, vegetables, stews, cooked grains, lean meats, fish, poultry, and soups all have a high water content so they tend to be more filling. Other foods that can be good to eat that do not have a lot of calories when eaten in the proper portions are whole grains and beans.

Being on a smart diet doesn’t mean that the amount of foods and kinds of foods that you eat will have to be limited. It can actually open your food world to many new foods with many new exciting tastes. When you start eating in a more healthy way, you will have to think about what you buy, how you prepare it and what items you are actually eating. The good part is that you will not be starving yourself, you will feel full while you are getting healthy and losing weight.
